Wanda Sykes Joins SU2C & The Safeway Foundation to Raise Funds and Awareness for Breast Cancer

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), The Safeway Foundation and actress and comedian Wanda Sykes have collaborated on a campaign to raise money and public awareness for a cause that is important to all women — breast cancer awareness and treatment. The PSA campaign launches on October 1, the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Call for Ideas Open for the SU2C-ACS Lung Cancer Translational Research Dream Team Grant

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is now accepting submissions of ideas for the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C)-American Cancer Society Lung Cancer Translational Research Dream Team Grant that will offer up to $20 million in research funding, with the Society and SU2C each providing half the funds over a three-year period. Bristol-Myers Squibb will provide funding in the amount of $5 million to SU2C that will support this Dream Team.

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is now accepting submissions of ideas for the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C)-Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF)-Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA)-National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) Translational Research Dream Team Grant that will offer up to $6 million in research funding.

More than $109 Million Pledged So Far in U.S. & Canada in Connection with Sept. 5 SU2C Special

More than USD $109 million has been pledged so far in connection with the star-studded September 5 Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) “roadblock” fundraising telecasts in the U.S. and Canada, it was announced today. The funds pledged toward the SU2C scientific model will be directed to collaborative research utilizing SU2C’s scientific oversight in both the United States and Canada.

Roam Inc. Introduces Ropes, The Next Generation Of Earphones

ROAM Inc., creators of the next generation of earphones, releases Orange “ROAM with SU2C” Ropes in collaboration with Stand Up To Cancer. The Orange Ropes will debut exclusively in the digital lounge during the Stand Up To Cancer roadblock telecast on September 5 and will ship in November 2014. The Limited Edition Orange “ROAM with SU2C” Ropes will be available for pre-order starting September 5th at www.roamwith.com/su2c . ROAM will donate $100 from the sale of each Orange “ROAM with SU2C” Ropes through December 31, 2015 to Stand Up To Cancer, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $10,000. Stand Up To Cancer is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

More Stars Stand Up To Cancer This Friday, September 5th

This Friday, September 5th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT) Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), will stage its fourth biennial fundraising event. Robert Downey Jr., Melissa McCarthy, Steve Carell, Sofia Vergara, Ben Falcone, Kevin Bacon, Anna Kendrick, Tony Goldwyn, Dave Grohl, Hailee Steinfeld, Josh Gad, Giada De Laurentiis, Jaime King, Mira Sorvino, Joe Manganiello, Jordana Brewster, Alison Sweeney, Amanda de Cadenet, Charlie Wilson, and Diem Brown, will be part of the star-studded appeal to help build public support for SU2C’s groundbreaking translational research that can provide patients with new therapies to save lives now. They join previously announced participants including Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Couric, Reese Witherspoon, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Jon Hamm, Kiefer Sutherland, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Mark Harmon, Rob Lowe, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Tony Hale, Dane Cook, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Marg Helgenberger, Matt Passmore, Rob Riggle, Italia Ricci, Ethan Zohn and Bree Turner. Today, Grammy Award-winning, critically acclaimed artists Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson and Common have announced they are teaming up to perform their new track “Remission” for the first time at the Stand Up To Cancer telecast on Friday, September 5th. The song, which is the remix to Lupe Fiasco’s powerful track “Mission,” supports Stand Up To Cancer, a groundbreaking grassroots movement raising funds to accelerate the pace of cancer research.

Historic Landmarks In U.S. & Canada Light Up In Stand Up To Cancer Colors

Our most iconic structures represent not only the heart of a city, but the soul of its people. More than a dozen buildings and landmarks across the United States and Canada will be illuminated in a united show of support for the upcoming biennial Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) “roadblock” telecast airing in both the United States and Canada. Participating buildings and landmarks include Niagara Falls and The Peace Bridge (US and Canadian falls), Rockefeller Center® (New York), CN Tower (Toronto), Willis Tower and The Wrigley Building (Chicago), The Capital Wheel (Washington D.C.), Houston City Hall, LAX Gateway (Los Angeles), One Liberty Place and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (Philadelphia), Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, Toronto City Hall, the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge (Boston), The Parthenon (Nashville), Terminal Tower (Cleveland), Big Dam Bridge and Two Rivers Park Bridge (Little Rock) and The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (Milwaukee). All will be lit in a combination of SU2C’s signature colors: red, orange, yellow or white. The live, one-hour fundraising telecast, through which the entertainment community engages the public in supporting cancer research that gets new therapies to patients quickly, will air commercial-free simultaneously Friday, Sept. 5, at 8pm/7pm Central.
