PATIENT STORY
When Ivis Sampayo was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was shocked.
“I had no known family history, so when I was diagnosed, I decided that I would do whatever I could to help other women and their families going through this.”
With the support of her 10-year-old son, family and friends, Ivis educated herself about the disease and underwent surgery, chemo, radiation and hormonal treatments while also raising an active two-year-old. Today, she is a breast cancer survivor.
Ivis’ experience inspired her to advocate for others, volunteer with various organizations and eventually join the Stand Up To Cancer Health Equity Breakthrough Team. “As a part of this team, I work to push for medically underserved communities…to receive awareness, support and education about cancer clinical trials.” – Ivis Sampayo
