Plane Wrap Donation FAQ

These FAQs are incorporated into and form a part of the Plane Wrap Donation Terms and Conditions.

What are the dates of the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane wrap donation campaign?

The American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane campaign will run the entire month of July 2019 (12:01 AM ET July 1 – 11:59 PM ET July 31, 2019).

What name may I submit for inclusion on the plane wrap?

For your honoree, you may submit, their first name and last initial, first name and last name, or a nickname. You may also use a familial title with any name submitted (Aunt, Uncle, Grandma, etc.). You may not submit any corporate names.

Acceptable Examples: Joe Brown, Jojo, Uncle Joe, Joe B., Uncle Joe Brown

In order to submit an honoree’s name, you must have permission from the honoree or from another appropriate party, such as the honoree’s estate or legal guardian. If requested, you must provide evidence to American Airlines that the honoree is an actual person and that you have permission to submit their name.

We recommend that you submit the name of a loved one or other person who has a cancer story.

American Airlines can at any time reject an honoree’s name from inclusion on the plane for any reason, including, without limitation, if American Airlines deems it to be controversial, inappropriate or harmful to a third party or to the American Airlines’ brand or reputation or in violation of a third party’s rights. Your donation to Stand Up To Cancer will not be refunded if the name you submit is rejected. Stand Up To Cancer will notify you via email if the name you submit is rejected by American Airlines. American Airlines and Stand Up To Cancer are not responsible for delayed or undeliverable emails, or emails that get blocked by spam filters.

When is the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane wrap going to be unveiled?

It is anticipated that the final plane design will be unveiled in the Fall of 2019. Stand Up To Cancer may choose to update you via email when the plane has been revealed.

How many names can I submit for inclusion on the plane?

You can submit one honoree name per donation, but you may donate as many times as you like, provided you donate at least $25 each time.

Where will the name I submit go on the plane?

You won’t be able to choose placement of the honoree’s name you submit.

How long will the name I submit be on the plane?

It is anticipated that an honoree’s name will be on the plane for at least 18 months, which is the lifespan of the decal. However, American Airlines reserves the right to remove the plane wrap or take the airplane out of commission at any time, in its sole discretion.

Where does my donation go?

100% of public donations received by SU2C support Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative cancer research programs. To learn more about where the money goes, please go here.

Do I need be an American Airlines AAdvantage member to make a donation?

No, you do not need to be an American Airlines AAdvantage member to make a donation and submit a name for the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane.

Can I donate via cash or check?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash and/or check donations for the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer Plane campaign. Only online donations made via aa.com/standup will be valid.

Can I donate via phone?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept phone donations for the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer Plane campaign. Only online donations made via aa.com/standup will be valid.

Can I get a refund for my donation?

Donations made in connection with the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane campaign are not refundable.

How many other names will be on the plane?

As many as there are people who donate and submit honorees’ names before the deadline at 11:59 PM ET July 31, 2019.

Can I submit my own name to be included on the plane?

You can submit your own name if you like, however, we suggest using a loved one’s name with a cancer story. All honoree names submitted are subject to American Airline’s right to reject the honoree’s name from inclusion on the plane wrap for any reason, including, without limitation, if American Airlines deems it to be inappropriate or harmful to its brand, reputation or any other third party, including SU2C, or in violation of a third party’s rights.

What if I change my mind and no longer want my honoree’s name on the plane?

If you submitted an honoree’s name and you no longer want it to be placed on the American Airlines official Stand Up To Cancer plane, you must send an email to Stand Up To Cancer no later than 11:59 PM ET on August 5, 2019 at support@su2c.org with your name, donation date, email address submitted when you made your donation and the name of the honoree whose name you submitted.

I made an error and/or want to change my honorees name. How do I submit an update?

You must email Stand Up To Cancer no later than 11:59 PM ET on August 5, 2019 at support@su2c.org with your name, donation date, email address submitted when you made your donation, the name of the honoree whose name you submitted and the update you would like to make.

I received an email stating that the name I submitted was rejected. Can I find out why it was rejected?

American Airlines reserves the right to reject an honoree’s name from inclusion on the plane for any reason, including, without limitation, if American Airlines deems it to be controversial, inappropriate or harmful to a third party or to the American Airlines’ brand or reputation or in violation of a third party’s rights. Given the number of submissions expected to be received, American Airlines will be unable to provide the specifics on why an individual name was rejected.

You will have one business day from the time you receive the email stating your honorees name has been rejected to modify your submission name. Outside of that timeline there will no longer be an opportunity to modify. SU2C and AA are not responsible for delayed or undeliverable emails, or emails that get blocked by spam filters.

What information about me gets shared by Stand Up To Cancer with American Airlines?

When you choose to submit your honoree’s name for the Stand Up To Cancer plane, your name (as the donor), your email address and your honoree’s name will be shared by Stand Up To Cancer with American Airlines and its designees for use in connection with the plane wrap program.
