Manager, Science Administration

ABOUT STAND UP TO CANCER:

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.

SUMMARY:

The Manager, Science Administration exercises discretion and independent judgment related to SU2C’s Science Department and grant funding. Specifically, the Manager, Science Administration is responsible for: managing project and donor deliverable timelines within the Science Department, including but not limited to the SU2C Scientific Summit; operationalizing the selection and oversight of projects within the SU2C-managed research grant portfolio; drafting summaries of science and memoranda for internal use; conducting grants administration tasks for a portion of the SU2C managed portfolio; managing the grants database across the SU2C portfolio; coordinating yearly reviews of policies and procedures; providing first line response to questions and concerns from investigators, scientific partner organizations, and internal SU2C departments; providing key support to the Science Department in the oversight of grants and special projects. This position is based at our office in Los Angeles. Some travel is required.

Communications Manager

The Manager has a key role in the execution of communication strategies that increase the awareness and relevance of Stand Up To Cancer among key audiences and the general public.

The Manager’s core responsibilities include writing, editing and materials development, media relations, and supporting the SVP Communications and other senior team members in ongoing media relations efforts.

Associate Director of Production and Content – TEMP TO PERM

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated logistics, research, and planning expert to serve as the Associate Director of Production and Content. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing a variety of production shoots, special projects, digital content and public service announcements including assuring appropriate logistical support for these productions. They will also manage the overall logistics flow and procedures for the production department. This position will report to the Vice President of Production and Content and will be the primary logistics hub for all production projects.This is a temporary position with the organization’s option to convert to a fulltime employee.

Communications Writer

The Communications Writer reports to the head of Communications and will be responsible for writing and editing content for both external and internal audiences, based on information gathering, as well as collaboration with applicable individuals/departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in science and healthcare, with previous experience requiring an understanding of medical and life sciences terminology, and the ability to quickly grasp and translate complex scientific issues to tell a story in simple, straightforward, consumer-facing language.

Assistant to SVP, Communications

The Assistant provides administrative and communications support to the SVP, Communications. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to masterfully arrange a complex executive calendar, book travel, manage expense reports and other administrative tasks, while also providing junior level communications support, as required. The candidate should possess superior organizational/ communication skills, be detail–oriented, computer proficient, resourceful, maintain an impeccable level of professionalism, and have the ability to multi-task. The candidate should also have an interest in communications and basic knowledge of media list development and monitoring, media relations, and event management. This position will be based out of the Stand Up To Cancer office in Los Angeles, CA.
