The Dan Patrick Show Gets Ugly

The Danettes Take On The Ugly Sweater Challenge To Raise Funds for Innovative Cancer Research LOS ANGELES, CA, NOVEMBER 25, 2013 – Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), is excited to announce The Dan Patrick Show is getting in the Holiday spirit and will be joining SU2C’s Second Annual Ugly Sweater Campaign. Starting on November 25th, Dan Patrick will challenge his fans to text donations as part of an engaging and humorous competition to determine which of the show’s famous “Danettes” will be chosen to don an ugly sweater for an entire week.

The Danettes, Paul Pabst (“Paulie”), Todd Fritz (“Fritzy”), Patrick O’Connor (“Seton”), and Andrew Perloff (“McLovin”) each have their own unique SU2C text code – fans can text “Paulie”, “Fritzy”, “Seton”, or “McLovin” to 40202 to donate $10 via their mobile phone to their favorite Danette*. The Danette who receives the highest amount in donations to his text code gets to select which of his fellow Danettes will have to sport an “Ugly Sweater” for the entire following week. Each week, the number of total donations will be reset and it’s once again anyone’s game to compete to earn the most in donations. The competition will run through December 23rd giving The Dan Patrick Show and the Danettes four weeks to help raise funds that will directly support innovative cancer research focused on getting new treatments to patients, faster.

“We’re so thrilled Dan, The Danettes and everyone at The Dan Patrick Show are rallying their audience in support of SU2C in such a fun and creative way,” said Sue Schwartz, co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer. “Our Ugly Sweater campaign gives people an easy and fun way to celebrate a popular holiday tradition while raising funds for cancer research.”

“I’m really looking forward to embarrassing these guys daily, while of course also doing some good and raising funds for Stand Up To Cancer,” said show host, Dan Patrick. “If I could choose, I would make the Danettes wear the most obnoxiously tacky, and itchiest sweaters of all time—because as far as I’m concerned, the more poinsettias, snowflakes and patchwork, the better.”

The Dan Patrick Show is a nationally syndicated radio show that also airs on DirectTV’s Audience Network and NBC Sports Network, reaching more than 1MM people and over 90 million homes. The show airs on 268 radio stations across the United States, reaching more than 1.2MM listeners weekly.

ABOUT STAND UP TO CANCER (SU2C)
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by film and media leaders who utilize the industry’s resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, and to increase awareness about progress being made in the fight against the disease. As SU2C’s scientific partner, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., conduct rigorous, competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and provide expert review of research progress.

Current members of the SU2C Council of Founders and Advisors (CFA) include Talk Show Host, Journalist and well-known Cancer Advocate Katie Couric; Sherry Lansing, Chairperson of the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Board of Directors and Founder of the Sherry Lansing Foundation; EIF President and CEO Lisa Paulsen; EIF Senior Vice President Kathleen Lobb; Rusty Robertson and Sue Schwartz of the Robertson Schwartz Agency; Pamela Oas Williams, President of Laura Ziskin Productions and Executive Producer of Stand Up To Cancer’s In-house Production Team, and Nonprofit Executive Ellen Ziffren. All current members of the CFA were co-producers of the 2012 televised special. The late co-founder Laura Ziskin executive produced both the Sept. 5, 2008, and Sept. 10, 2010, broadcasts. SU2C was formally launched on May 27, 2008. Sung Poblete, Ph.D., R.N., has served as SU2C’s president and CEO since 2011.
