CVS Health Launches Second Annual In-Store Campaign to Support SU2C’s Groundbreaking Cancer Research

CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Health (NYSE: CVS), today announced the launch of its second annual in-store fundraising campaign to benefit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) that supports innovative cancer research that will help get new therapies to patients quickly and save more lives. The in-store fundraising campaign, which features actress and SU2C Ambassador Eva Longoria, is part of a three-year, $10 million commitment by CVS Health to SU2C.

MLB Embraces Its “Potential” in New PSA Featuring Childhood Videos of Some of the Game’s Stars

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is set to debut a new PSA campaign, titled “Potential,” in collaboration with SU2C founding donor, Major League Baseball. The moving PSA campaign offers an intimate look into the lives of MLB stars when they were young and developing their passion for baseball— featuring cancer survivor and Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, as well as Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper, center fielder Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher David Price and center fielder Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The new PSAs debut Friday, October 30th during Game Three of the 2015 World Series. MLB and its 30 Clubs are the founding donors of SU2C, committing nearly $40 million, to date, to SU2C’s innovative cancer research.

SU2C Makes $7.5 Million in Cancer Research Funding Available to Early-career Scientists

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is making $7.5 million in research funding available to early-career scientists who are pursuing innovative approaches to cancer, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) announced today. A total of 10 Innovative Research Grants (IRGs) will be funded up to $750,000 each over three years.

Health & Wellness Expert Jillian Michaels to Represent SU2C at Night Nation Run October 24th

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is excited to announce Jillian Michaels, one of the nation’s leading health and wellness experts, will participate on behalf of SU2C in the Night Nation Run on Saturday, October 24th. The running 5k music festival, will take place at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA. Stand Up To Cancer, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, has been named the official charitable beneficiary of the Night Nation Run. The Running Music Festivals will be held in over 30 cities across the U.S. in 2015 and 2016.

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), and CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) announced today a new print, radio and digital public service announcement (PSA) featuring award-winning actress and SU2C Ambassador Julie Bowen. The PSA aims to bring awareness to the importance of collaboration in the fight against cancer and to encourage the general public to learn more and get involved. The PSA will begin airing this month.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Employees Cycle Nearly 2,900 Miles Across the Country to Raise Money for Cancer

Today, members of the Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) oncology team set off on the first leg of the Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer Ride, a 19-day bike relay that will involve over 80 employees riding a combined total of nearly 2,900 miles, from today’s start on the Oregon Coast to the Jersey Shore, to show their support for the cancer community while raising funds for cancer research. Bristol-Myers Squibb will match donations raised by the riders, dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000, to support Stand Up To Cancer, whose collaborative “Dream Teams” of scientific researchers are working together to accelerate cancer research and to provide innovative treatment to patients faster.

SU2C and PBS LearningMedia Open Applications for Emperor Science Award Program

Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and PBS LearningMedia, a media-on-demand service designed for K-12 classrooms, announced today the opening of applications for the inaugural year of The Emperor Science Award program. The Emperor Science Award program is an initiative designed to encourage high school students to explore careers in science, specifically cancer research and care, through a unique mentoring opportunity. The education initiative was first announced in spring 2015 by SU2C Co-Founder Katie Couric at Columbia University in connection with Ken Burns Presents CANCER: THE EMPEROR OF ALL MALADIES a Film by Barak Goodman, a three-part film on the history of cancer that aired on PBS in the spring of 2015 and can be streamed online here. The program aims to empower high school students to become the next generation of cancer and health researchers and will award 100 students each year, for at least three years, with an opportunity to work alongside an esteemed scientist on a rewarding multi-week cancer research project.
