EIF Canada And Canadian Broadcasters Unite
All four of Canada’s English language network broadcasters today announced an unprecedented collaboration, unveiling plans to simultaneously air, for the first time ever, a Canadian-inclusive Stand Up To Cancer special this September. CBC, City, CTV and Global will join ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and dozens of U.S. cable channels simultaneously airing a star-studded special from Hollywood, and for the first time, Toronto. The live, one-hour fundraising event, which draws on the entertainment community to rally the public around ending cancer’s reign as a leading cause of death, will air commercial-free simultaneously Friday, September 5 at 8 pm ET/PT.

WETA Launches Website for Ken Burns Presents “The Story Of Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies”
Sharon Percy Rockefeller, the president and CEO of WETA, the Washington, D.C. public television station, today announced the launch of a new website that is part of the national outreach for Ken Burns Presents The Story of Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, a new documentary executive produced by Ken Burns. The six-hour film, airing on PBS in spring 2015, is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer (Simon & Schuster 2010) by Siddhartha Mukherjee, M.D., and will be directed by the award-winning filmmaker Barak Goodman. This “biography” of cancer covers its first documented appearances thousands of years ago through the epic battles in the 20th century to cure, control and conquer cancer. The series matches the epic scale of cancer, reshaping the way the public sees cancer and stripping away some of the fear and misunderstanding that has long surrounded it.

Request for Applications Now Open for New SU2C – CRUK Translational Research Fellowship
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is now accepting applications for the Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C)-Cancer Research UK Translational Research Fellowship, which will provide up to four grants for postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, each up to $315,000, over a four-year period. This grant opportunity is provided by SU2C and Cancer Research UK and is the first joint research project resulting from the collaboration between the two groups announced in 2012.
